A. PROPOSAL
I chose to further investigate the topic of beauty and how it has evolved throughout history and the causes for it changing. I really found the topic of beauty interesting, and what makes something beautiful and who decides what is beautiful. Society has a really specific view of beauty in this generation and for me, that's puzzling because I always thought there were many different variations of being beautiful. Hopefully I can investigate the trends and the reasons for societies view changing throughout the years.
Essential Question: How has society's view of beauty evolved throughout the year, and what are the reasons for the change?
I'm considering making a video as my educational tool but I'm not 100% yet. I may change it depending on how my research goes and what ideas I get from that.
I'm going to spend several weeks just finding background information on this topic and just in general get to know it better before I start with creating my final project. I want to see which areas of this topic are the most interesting. I know I'll have to write the editorial and research paper which will help me research the topic more in depth. That will also take away some of my time dedicated to the project but there is a decent amount of time to prepare for this final project. By the beginning of May I want to be completely focused on just creating my final presentation and rehearse it so it goes well.
Final Conclusion:
My topic of how beauty has evolved over the years has allowed me to research in depth not only how it has changed, but also the cause for it changing. In all honesty, I myself and a lot of my friends have grown to adapt what society has influenced on us as far as what is beautiful. I expect the standards of beauty to change throughout the years as we advance further into a different age. But in reality, I don’t agree with the fact that society has given us a standard of what is beautiful because there are many things and people who don’t fit in societies expectations and yet are beautiful in my opinion. We all have our own characteristics and qualities that make us attractive people and being ourselves and who we want to be rather than what society expects us to be makes us unique. I would really hope to see that people just accept who they are, use what technology and scientific advancements bring as far as advantages but also just realize that we are perfect the way we are. People allow what others think of them or want them to be to influence them in becoming who they are.
